MWGP Suite

International Headquarters Most Worthy Grand Patron Suite

This suite is reserved for the Most Worthy Grand Patron and his wife whenever he stays at the Headquarters. In the Belmont’s day, this was the only guest room in the house. Although the house was for entertaining, it was clear their guests were not expected to spend the night.

One of the most distinguished guests to use this room was The Prince of Wales, Edward VIII. The Belmonts were asked by the State Department to allow him to use their home on his visit to Washington. President Wilson had become ill and the State Department asked the Belmonts to allow the Prince to use the mansion as His residence while he was in Washington.
