Most Worthy Grand Matron

March 30, 2010

It is a sincere pleasure to extend greetings to all members of the Order of the Eastern Star throughout the world.  I, like my predecessors, have assumed this opportunity to serve our Order of the Eastern Star and, in turn, humanity with “high hopes.”  Since its inception in 1876, the General Grand Chapter has endeavored to contribute to educational, scientific, and charitable programs most beneficially. From lessons so carefully chosen by an esteemed Mason, Brother Robert Morris, through our ritualistic basis and widening membership affiliations, we have grown into a worldwide organization second to none.  A pathway of service has been designed by those who have held this office before us and I hope to enhance this pathway with my efforts of  service.

Through our various General Grand Chapter projects and programs these many years, money and hours of service have been contributed steadily to relieve the needs of less fortunate members of our society.  We shall continue our efforts for support of the fight against the dread diseases, to support educational opportunities where we can, and, generally, to seek out opportunities to relieve distressful areas in the lives of humanity. In addition, my choice of the Service Dog project, Brother Fred’s choice of the George Washington Masonic Memorial project and a continuing emphasis on addressing our continued decline in membership have been added for special emphasis.

The members of the 2009-2012 General Grand Chapter family have committed themselves to service on our business and philanthropical programs to achieve goals comparable to the past and leave a pathway for the future.  It is most gratifying to be a part of any organization filled with so many dedicated members.  Let us stand shoulder- to – shoulder to promulgate the principles of our beautiful Order of the Eastern Star.

“WE CAN AND WILL SUCCEED”

My Scripture:  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.  Those things, which ye have both learned and received, and heard, and seen in me, do; and the God of peace shall be with you. Philippians 4:8-9.
